What is Ashwagandha Shoden?

Ashwagandha, also known asIndian ginseng, is a medicinal plant that has been used in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine for over 3000 years. It is also known as theking of Ayurvedic herbs and is mainly used torelieve stress and increase energy levels (1,2). It is also used toimprove concentration ( 3),relieve anxiety ( 4) and for many other purposes. Ashwagandha is a so-called adaptogen, which means that it has a reputation forincreasing the body'sresistance to stress. In the same breath, it can also potentially reduce the dangerous effects of chronic stress on health and well-being.

Numerous scientific studies have now confirmed thestress-regulating effect of ashwagandha (1,5,6). The active ingredient has also been tested for many other benefits. For athletes, bodybuilders and health-conscious people, some interesting facts have been proven. Ashwagandha appears to be able to lower cortisol levels (5,6), and the evidence for itspositive effect on general sleep quality continues to grow (7).

Although ashwagandha is primarily known for itsstress-relieving and calming effects, the medicinal plant has numerous other effects. Numerous studies have concluded that subjects who took ashwagandha were able to build up to 1.7 times more strength and up to 2.3 times more muscle mass than those who did not take ashwagandha (8). These effects appear to be partly due to the fact that the active ingredientwas able to increase thelevel ofendogenous, muscle-building hormones in menby up to 40 % in one study ( 5,8). In addition, significantly less exercise-induced muscle damage was observed in the test subjects (8). In conjunction with theanti-inflammatory ( 9,10) andantioxidant properties of ashwagandha (10), supplementation can potentially lead tosignificantly faster and better recovery after training (8).

However, ashwagandha was not only able to improve muscle growth in test subjects. It was also able toaccelerate fat loss in the test subjects ( 11,12). It does indeed appear to have tangible physiological effects on fat loss. For example, there is evidence that ashwagandha can normalize natural levels of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4 (13), which are crucial forregulating metabolism and fat loss. Ashwagandha has also been used in studies toreduce blood sugar levels and increase insulin sensitivity ( 14,15), as well asimprovingimmune system function ( 16,17,18) andimproving cognitive function and memory in test subjects ( 3).

Much of the health benefits of ashwagandha are attributed to a group of plant compounds known aswithanolides. In order to guarantee aconstant and always consistent maximum effect, our ashwagandha isstandardized to avery high withanolide content of 35 %. Standardization ensures that every batch has the same withanolide content and that thesame effectcan always beguaranteed.

Ashwagandha from GN Laboratories delivers the numerous benefits of the Indian medicinal plant in an easy-to-dose capsule form. So that everyone can benefit from the king of Ayurvedic herbs and the stress of everyday life is easier to swallow.
