Which workout booster suits your training?
Workout booster is a broad term for different supplements used around training. To make your choice, it helps to distinguish the product types first. Pre-workout describes when a product is taken: before training. Pump refers to a particular focus of the formula. A product can therefore belong to both groups. Whether it contains caffeine is a separate question.
| You are looking for … | Where to look | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| A ready-made formula to take before training | Pre-workout boosters | Compare the ingredients and caffeine content per serving. |
| A formula with citrulline, arginine or other typical pump ingredients | Pump boosters | “Pump” does not automatically mean caffeine-free. |
| A booster without caffeine | Caffeine-free formulas in the pump range | Look for an explicit label and check the full composition. |
| A drink powder for during your session | Intra-workout | Depending on the product, carbohydrates, amino acids or electrolytes are the main focus. |
With or without caffeine: which formula suits you?
If you prefer to avoid caffeine, options include Narc Pump by GN Laboratories and Valhalla Fenrir White Pump by Gods Rage. Both combine citrulline malate, arginine HCl and glycerol powder, but their formulas differ in other ingredients and quantities.
Narc and Narc Pump have similar names, but differ in their caffeine content: Narc contains caffeine, while Narc Pump does not. That is why you should check the exact product name alongside the ingredients.
Powder or capsules?
You mix a powder with water to make a drink. Flavour, the recommended amount of water and serving size are therefore part of the choice. Capsules are taken with liquid and do not require a shaker. However, they do not automatically contain the same formula as a powder.
Alongside powders, the pump category includes products such as N.O Synergy by Big Zone and VasoGrow capsules. These products have their own compositions. Compare their ingredients rather than treating a serving of capsules as equivalent to a scoop of powder.
How to compare pack size and price
A larger tub does not necessarily last longer. What matters is the amount of powder in the stated serving. Here is a simple example: 500 g provides 20 servings at 25 g each; 400 g provides 40 servings at 10 g each. Then divide the price by the number of servings to calculate the price per serving.
Apply the same approach to the formula: compare amounts per stated serving. A long ingredient list alone does not tell you how much of each ingredient the product contains. Check your chosen flavour too, as ingredients and allergens can vary even within the same product.
Once you have chosen a product type, the relevant category makes it easier to find a formula and flavour. Detailed nutritional information and directions for use are on each product page.
