Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola, botanically Centella asiatica, is a perennial, herbaceous plant from the family of umbellifers (Apiaceae), occasionally also assigned to the aralia family (Araliaceae). Originally native to tropical regions of Asia – particularly India, Sri Lanka, China, and Indonesia – the plant prefers to grow in moist locations such as rice fields, riverbanks, and swampy meadows. With its kidney-shaped leaves, creeping stems, and inconspicuous whitish-pink flowers, Centella asiatica plays an important role in traditional healing – both in Indian Ayurveda and in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In India, the plant is revered as "Brahmi" and has been used for centuries to promote mental clarity and support wound healing. It is also receiving growing attention in modern natural cosmetics and phytotherapy.
