Why piperine makes the difference

Turmeric has been an integral part of the Ayurvedic tradition for centuries. The problem is that the body has difficulty absorbing curcumin. A large proportion is excreted unused.

This is where piperine comes into play. The extract from black pepper acts like a door opener and can significantly improve the bioavailability of curcumin.

Turmeric form Bioavailability
Turmeric pure 1x (baseline)
With piperine up to 20x higher

GN Laboratories has therefore enriched each capsule with 5mg piperine. This allows your body to better utilize the curcumin.

Highly dosed: 250mg turmeric extract per capsule

Not every turmeric capsule is the same. The decisive factor is how much pure curcumin it actually contains. Many products use simple powder with only 3 to 5% curcuminoids.

Curcumin Plus from GN Laboratories uses concentrated extract:

Content per capsule:

  • 250mg turmeric extract
  • 95% curcuminoids (= 237.5mg pure active ingredient)
  • 5mg piperine from black pepper
  • Vegetable capsule shell without additives

The difference to turmeric powder? With standardized extract you know exactly what you are getting. No fluctuations, no uncertainty. Consistent quality in every capsule.

What is curcumin?

Curcumin is the most important active ingredient in turmeric root. The tuber of the Curcuma longa plant has been used for centuries as a spice and traditional medicinal plant. Turmeric owes its characteristic yellow color precisely to this plant substance.

In food supplements, curcumin is extracted from the root and concentrated. This gives you a significantly higher proportion of the valuable active ingredient than with simple powder. High-quality products contain standardized extracts with a curcuminoid content of 95%.

Curcuma extract vs. powder

Both forms originate from the same plant. However, the difference in composition is significant.

Turmeric powder is ground directly from the dried tuber. It contains only around 3% curcuminoids and is particularly suitable as a spice for cooking. The taste is earthy and slightly bitter.

Curcuma extract, on the other hand, is a concentrate. Special processes are used to increase the curcumin content to up to 95%. This means that you get the same amount of active ingredient with a small amount of extract as with large amounts of powder.

For people who want to use curcumin specifically as a dietary supplement, capsules with high-dose extract are the more practical choice. No bitter taste, no complex preparation, no liquid required.

How to take turmeric capsules correctly

Taking them is straightforward. For basic care, we recommend taking 2 capsules a day. If you are planning an intensive cure, you can increase to 4 capsules a day.

Tip: Take the capsules with a meal with a little fat. Curcumin is fat-soluble and is therefore absorbed even better. A breakfast with avocado or a salad with olive oil is ideal.

Important: regularity beats quantity. It is better to take 2 capsules daily over several weeks than a high dose sporadically.

The tin contains 60 capsules. At 2 capsules a day, this is enough for a full month.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are the turmeric capsules vegan?
Yes, the capsule shell is made of plant-based material (HPMC). The product contains no animal ingredients and is suitable for a vegan diet.
How much turmeric should I take per day?
As a guide, 500 to 1000mg of curcumin should be taken daily. With the Curcumin Plus capsules (237.5mg curcumin per capsule) this corresponds to 2 to 4 capsules per day. Start with 2 capsules and increase as required.
Can I take turmeric capsules every day?
Yes, turmeric capsules are suitable for daily use. The combination with piperine in particular makes regular use sensible, as this constantly improves bioavailability.
How long does it take for turmeric to take effect?
Turmeric is not an acute preparation. Many people notice the first changes after 2 to 4 weeks of regular use. For meaningful results, we recommend taking it for at least 8 to 12 weeks.
Which is better: powder or capsules?
Both have their uses. Powder is suitable for cooking and as a spice. Capsules offer the advantage of a standardized dosage. You know exactly how much curcumin you are taking. High-quality capsules also contain piperine for better absorption.
