Why do people take ashitaba?
Very little research has been done on ashitaba, so the true benefits and risks of this plant are not well known.
Some animal and laboratory research suggests that ashitaba may help to reduce stomach acid levels. This could theoretically be helpful for some types of stomach ulcers. Other studies show that ashitaba may help increase levels of good cholesterol and reduce levels of unhealthy blood fats, also known as triglycerides. However, other studies show no benefits.
