Sleep is incredibly important for the human body; only those who are rested can remain efficient and perform at their best in the long term. Sleep is needed so that the body and brain can recover and regenerate optimally. This is especially true for athletes, as the strain that physical activity places on the body and nervous system can be enormous. However, not all sleep offers the same level of recovery; the quality of sleep plays a decisive role here. How deeply and peacefully you sleep contributes significantly to regeneration and determines how refreshed your body is the next morning. With this in mind, GN has developed the new Sleeper, a supplement based on various ingredients, all of which have been shown in studies to have a positive effect on the sleep and recovery of test subjects. The new Sleeper consists of two different active ingredient complexes, one specifically aimed at improving sleep, while the other provides a supply of various nutrients that also have a calming effect. We will now take a closer look at all these active ingredients.

We will start with the "Sleeper Matrix", an active ingredient complex that contains a whole range of different active ingredients that have been associated with an improvement in sleep quality in test subjects in various studies. The first ingredient we would like to take a closer look at is gamma-aminobutyric acid, better known as GABA. The active ingredient has been very popular in connection with sleep for some time and has already been investigated in numerous studies. One of these studies, for example, showed that various parameters of sleep quality could be improved by GABA (1), while test subjects in another study stated that they fell asleep more quickly after taking GABA (2). The next ingredient we want to take a closer look at is L-tryptophan, which is another active ingredient that has become increasingly popular in recent years. In 2022, a meta-analysis on L-tryptophan was published, which examined how the active ingredient can affect sleep quality. The analysis considered 18 different articles and concluded that tryptophan supplementation can help improve sleep quality in a similar way to taking GABA (3). Glycine is another ingredient that GN Laboratories used in the new Sleeper. Glycine is an amino acid that acts as a neurotransmitter in the body and can therefore influence the nervous system. In a study in which test subjects were asked to rate the quality and effectiveness of their sleep after taking glycine, the active ingredient was shown to significantly improve both parameters in the test group. Glycine therefore helped the test subjects to sleep better and more restfully (4). Valerian and ashwagandha are also an important component of the new Sleeper. Both ingredients are herbal active ingredients whose potential for calming should be familiar to everyone. Valerian has also been associated with a sleep-promoting effect in studies and, according to test subjects, helped them to fall asleep more easily (5,6). Ashwagandha is an active ingredient that is currently taking the supplement world by storm. If you look at the many benefits of taking it in test subjects, it quickly becomes clear why this is the case. A large number of scientific studies have now confirmed the stress-regulating effect of ashwagandha (7,8,9) and the evidence regarding improved sleep quality continues to grow (10).

The second active ingredient matrix is the "Zinc-MA Matrix", which, as the name suggests, includes magnesium and zinc enriched with vitamin B6. All three of these active ingredients contribute in different ways to the maintenance of countless bodily functions and also have an effect on sleep. According to researchers, magnesium contributes significantly to recovery during sleep and ensures improved sleep quality (14,15). Zinc also plays an important role in regeneration and recovery and is an essential factor for over 300 vital enzymes (16,17). Vitamin B6 also contributes to recovery. A study from 2022, for example, showed that vitamin B6 can supplement the inhibitory effects of GABA and is involved in the body's own production of GABA (18).

By combining these two active ingredient complexes, the new Sleeper from GN is a product whose ingredients were able to influence sleep in test subjects in very different ways. All ingredients have been selected with the aim of taking your recovery to the next level and thus promoting optimal regeneration. As usual, GN relies exclusively on ingredients of the highest quality so that the effect can unfold optimally and nothing stands in the way of optimum performance.
