When it comes to maximizing muscle cell volume, most athletes and bodybuilders usually think of creatine, but there is another, completely natural and safe active ingredient that has long been a well-kept secret in the area of bodybuilding and performance sports. This compound is glycerol. But glycerol can do much more than just increase your muscle cell volume. In addition to an increase in muscle cell volume, glycerol can significantly enhance the effects of creatine, considerably improve the hydration of your body and even increase your blood volume. This results in a wide range of very interesting applications for bodybuilders and endurance athletes, which we will discuss in more detail later.


Glycerol is a naturally occurring compound in the human body that forms the "backbone" of all fats, to which three fatty acids are attached. Since now Glycerol has never been able to become popular in the supplement industry due to the fact that pure glycerol is a liquid that strongly irritates the mucous membranes and must never be consumed undiluted. These problems are circumvented by the patented HYDROCYN™, which is something like glycerol in powder form. HYDROCYN™ contains 65% glycerol and is superior to the widely used but inferior glycerol monostearate powder containing only about 10% glycerol. To date HYDROCYN™ is the most concentrated form of glycerol in powder form.

The first effect of glycerol and thus also HYDROCYN™ is that it pulls water into your muscle cells. This leads to an increased cell volumization resulting in a markedly increased muscle pump. This pump is further reinforced by the fact that HYDROCYN™ additionally causes a significant increase in blood volume. This effect is so pronounced that glycerol has put on the WADA list of prohibited substances, since a significant increase in blood volume can mask the usage of forbidden performance-enhancing drugs.     Für Rücken sessions ist es aber eher Kritisch zusehen, meine Unterarme haben einen so extremen Pump bekommen, dass ich bei den Supersätzen teilweise einen Satz abbrechen musste, weil ich die Gewichte nicht mehr halten konnte.

Glyzerin (Glycerol)


Glyzerin ist eine natürlich vorkommende Chemikalie, die von einigen Menschen als Medizin verwendet wird.

Glyzerin wird oral zur Unterstützung des Gewichtsabbaus, zur Verbesserung der Trainingsleistung, um dem Körper dabei zu helfen, durch Durchfall und Erbrechen verlorene Flüssigkeit zu ersetzen und zur Reduzierung des Augeninnendrucks bei Menschen, die unter grünem Star leiden, eingenommen.

Ärzte verabreichen Glyzerin manchmal intravenös, um den Druck im Gehirn bei bestimmten Leiden inklusive Schlaganfall, Meningitis, Enzephalitis, Reye Syndrom, Pseudotumor Cerebri, ZNS Traumata und ZNS Tumoren zu lindern. Weitere Einsatzgebiete für intravenöse Glyzerin Injektionen umfassen die Reduzierung des Gehirnvolumens für neurochirurgische Eingriffe und die Behandlung von Ohnmachtsanfällen im Stehen aufgrund eines schlechten Blutflusses zum Gehirn.

Es gibt nicht genügend wissenschaftliche Daten, um eine Aussage bezüglich der Effektivität von Glyzerin zur Unterstützung der Hydration bei Sportlern und Menschen, die unter Problemen im Bereich des Verdauungstrakts leiden, sowie zur Reduzierung von Falten der Haut treffen zu können. Es bedarf weiterer wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen, um die Effektivität von Glyzerin bei diesen Anwendungen bewerten zu können.


Sicherheit und Nebenwirkungen

Glyzerin scheint für die meisten Erwachsenen sicher und unbedenklich zu sein. Bei oraler Einnahme kann Glyzerin Nebenwirkungen inklusive Kopfschmerzen, Schwindel, einem aufgeblähten Gefühl, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durst und Durchfall hervorrufen.

Glyzerin könnte nicht sicher und unbedenklich sein, wenn es intravenös injiziert wird, da die roten Blutkörperchen ernsthaft beschädigt werden könnten.


Vorsichtsmaßnahmen und Warnungen:

Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit: Es ist nicht genug über die Verwendung von Glyzerin während Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit bekannt. Aus diesem Grund sollten schwangere und stillende Frauen besser auf Glyzerin verzichten.



Zum augenblicklichen Zeitpunkt liegen keine Informationen über Wechselwirkungen von Glyzerin mit Medikamenten oder Supplements vor.



Folgende Dosierungen wurden im Rahmen wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen untersucht:


  • Als Abführmittel für Erwachsene bei Verstopfung: Die für gewöhnlich verwendete Dosis Glyzerin liegt bei 2 bis 3 Gramm in Form von Zäpfchen oder einem 5 bis 15 ml Einlauf. Bei Kindern unter 6 Jahren liegt die Dosierung bei 1 bis 1,7 Gramm in Form von Zäpfchen oder 2 bis 5 ml in Form eines Einlaufs.
