AAKG: Arginine combined with alpha-ketoglutarate

Olimp Sport Nutrition is one of the most established supplement manufacturers in Europe and has its German headquarters in Hanau. The AAKG 1250 Extreme Mega Caps are based on arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, a combination of the amino acid L-arginine and alpha-ketoglutaric acid.

AAKG differs from the pure HCL form: While L-arginine HCL provides around 83% pure L-arginine, the proportion for AAKG is around 65%. On the other hand, the alpha-ketoglutarate component has its own role in energy metabolism. In the sports sector, AAKG is mainly used in capsule form and, along with HCL, is one of the two most common forms of arginine.

L-arginine itself is a semi-essential amino acid that serves as a starting material for the formation of nitric oxide (NO) in the body. AAKG capsules are particularly popular with strength athletes who want to use this amino acid specifically before training.

Note: The capsule shell consists of gelatine. This product is not suitable for a vegan diet.
