What is beta-alanine?
Beta-alanine is a non-proteinogenic amino acid and the direct precursor of carnosine.¹⁾ Your body combines it with L-histidine to form carnosine, a dipeptide that is mainly found in your skeletal muscles, where it plays a role in regulating pH levels.²⁾The more beta-alanine you consume, the higher your carnosine level can rise.³⁾ You only consume around 50 to 300 mg per day through your normal diet, mainly through meat and fish. You can achieve significantly higher levels with a supplement. The tingling sensation on the skin after ingestion (paraesthesia) is a well-known and harmless side effect.⁴⁾
What's in the can?
Open the can and you will see a white, fine, odorless powder with a neutral taste. No granules, no capsule shells, no colorful particles. Inside is a single ingredient from GN Laboratories: pure beta-alanine. One scoop provides you with 3,000 mg, ten to sixty times what you get from a meal. With a 500 g pack size, that's enough for over 166 portions.

Many products on the market contain release agents, superplasticizers or flavourings in addition to the actual amino acid. There is exactly one ingredient on the list of ingredients for this powder. Each batch is tested by independent laboratories before the product goes on sale.
This beta alanine powder also has a practical advantage over capsules: You adjust your daily portion to the exact gram, start low and increase gradually. With a daily amount of 3 g, you only need one scoop instead of three to four capsules. The powder can be stirred directly into your shake or pre-workout drink.
Who is the supplement suitable for?
Strength athletes: You train with heavy weights and short breaks between sets. This is exactly when the pH value in your muscle fibers drops the fastest. Beta-alanine is the precursor of carnosine, which plays a role in pH regulation in this area.²⁾The level builds up over two to four weeks of daily intake.³⁾ That's why you take this powder every day, not just before training.
Endurance athletes: The amino acid is only for strength athletes? Carnosine is also found in the slow-twitch muscle fibers that do the main work during long workouts.²⁾ This powder provides you with the amino acid pure, without caffeine and without additives, so that your stomach can keep up over the long distance.
Beginners: If you don't yet know how your body reacts to individual ingredients, it's best to start with a single amino acid. Use a measuring spoon to measure out the exact gram and gradually adjust the amount. The tingling sensation on the skin is unfamiliar at first, but will subside noticeably after one to two weeks.⁴⁾
Intake - how to use the powder correctly
Before training: Mix 3 g (1 heaped measuring spoon) into 200 ml of water or your shake. Ideally 20 to 30 minutes before your training session.
On non-training days: The same amount, preferably in the morning with a meal.
Beginner's protocol: Start with 1.5 g per day in the first week. From week two, increase to the full daily amount of 3 g. This will also reduce the tingling sensation at the beginning.
Combination with other supplements: Many athletes take the amino acid together with creatine, L-citrulline or L-arginine. All supplements can be easily mixed in the same shake.
NanoPure® quality - pure without compromise
The ingredient in this powder is hygroscopic, it draws moisture out of the air. Many manufacturers therefore mix in silicon dioxide as an anti-caking agent to prevent the powder from clumping. This supplement does away with this completely. Instead, the production process and packaging ensure that the powder remains dry and free-flowing, without any additives.
The entire production process takes place in Germany under GMP, HACCP and IFS standards. Every batch is tested by independent laboratories for purity, heavy metals and microbiological contamination before it is sold.
