Creatine is a natural biochemical compound that can either be obtained from food or synthesized by our body from amino acids. The main function of creatine is to supply muscle cells in the body with energy. Creatine helps to produce ATP from ADP, which acts as the primary energy source in the human body (6). This process makes creatine incredibly effective as a supplement, especially in terms of athletic performance. In studies, it was able to increase direct performance and was therefore also indirectly responsible for increased muscle growth in test subjects (4,5).
