What are green tea extract capsules?
Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant and has been consumed as a drink for centuries, especially in China. Unlike black tea, it is not fermented, which means that a large proportion of the natural substances in the leaves are retained ¹⁾.
Green tea extract capsules contain these plant substances in concentrated form. Instead of drinking several cups a day, you take the extract as a capsule. The advantage: in a standardized extract, the content of polyphenols and catechins is precisely defined and the same in every batch. Polyphenols are secondary plant substances found in numerous plants. In tea leaves, they make up the largest proportion of bioactive ingredients ²⁾.
EGCG: the most studied catechin
EGCG stands for epigallocatechin gallate and is the dominant catechin in green tea in terms of quantity. No other component of the tea plant has been researched so intensively in recent decades.
The EGCG capsules from GN Laboratories provide 550 mg of this catechin per daily serving. The extract is standardized to 55 % EGCG. By comparison, most products on the market work with a standardization of 40 to 50 %. This means that you get a higher proportion of the key substance per capsule than with many alternative products.
In addition to EGCG, the extract contains other catechins as well as naturally occurring caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine ⁴⁾.
Green TEA in comparison
| Green TEA | Typical product |
| EGCG per day | 550 mg | 300-400 mg |
| Extract per day | 1,000 mg (2 pieces) | 600-750 mg (3 pieces) |
| EGCG standardization | 55 % | 40-50 % |
| Number of ingredients | 3 | 5+ |
| Additional ingredients | None | Vitamin C, piperine or similar |
| Piece per day | 2 | 3 |
| Vegan | Yes | Not always |
Green TEA is based on a purist formula: one extract, one capsule, no additives. If you want to supplement EGCG in a targeted way, you get a higher dose per daily portion with less effort.
Who are green tea capsules suitable for?
Green tea capsules are used by a wide variety of people:
Nobody has time to brew tea at six in the morning before weight training. Two with a shake, that's it. Fits in every sports bag, zero effort.
Health-conscious men and women know the problem: four cups of tea a day sounds good, but is not enough for meetings and a full desk. This dietary supplement provides the daily dose of polyphenols, whether in your handbag or rucksack ⁵⁾.
Even regular tea drinkers reach for the capsule. The reason: the polyphenol content per cup varies depending on the brewing time, water temperature and type of tea. In the extract, the content in each drink is standardized.
Intake and recommended dosage
Take 2 capsules daily with sufficient liquid. The best time is in the morning or before training, as the extract contains naturally occurring caffeine. Evening intake is less suitable if you are sensitive to caffeine.
Our tip: Don't take the capsules on a completely empty stomach, but with a small meal or a shake. Experience has shown that this is the best way for the stomach to tolerate the extract.
Quality and production
Green TEA from GN Laboratories is manufactured in Germany. The formula is deliberately kept minimalist: Green tea extract, a vegetable HPMC capsule shell and rice flour as a release agent. Magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide or other technical additives are not included.
The standardization to 55% EGCG is achieved by a gentle extraction process in which the catechins are specifically released from the tea leaves. Unnecessary fillers or technical additives are not used.
The plant-based HPMC capsule makes the product 100 % vegan.
