Arginine ethyl ester
Arginine ethyl ester
is a semi-essential amino acid that is the building block of protein. Arginine is not produced endogenously and exogenous consumption is required to fulfill arginine requirements1. *Arginine Ethyl Ester** HCL (AEE) is an arginine amino acid with an attached ester. Esters are organic compounds formed by esterification - the reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohol. Arginine ethyl ester cannot be taken with food but as a supplement.
What scientific studies provide evidence
Arginine eth yl ester is a new type of arginine. It is technically a derivative of arginine, with ergogenic effects similar to normal L-arginine, but the presence of an ester makes the ergogenic effects of arginine ethyl ester more pronounced. Just as good as L-arginine is that it is limited by nature. The first limitation lies in its limited absorption by the intestine. While arginine ethyl ester can pass through the intestine largely intact, normal L-arginine is largely broken down in the intestine, leaving only active traces of the ingested dose. Because of the rapid breakdown of L-arginine in the intestine, the effects are limited to N02 regulation, sexual arousal and hemodialution. This rapid breakdown also limits the ability of L-arginine to promote muscle growth by increasing the duration of exercise and the delivery of nutrients to muscle tissue via the muscle pump. L-arginine has been used with limited success in the treatment of infertility and erectile dysfunction. Injury healing, muscle growth and cell function are all positively influenced by L-arginine and current accepted models of arginine metabolism indicate that these processes may be positively influenced to a greater extent by arginine ethyl ester. The presence of esters not only enhances the function of arginine and overcomes its existing limitations, but the presence of an ester and increased absorption also reduces the need for large doses, which is less stressful for the body. The presence of an ester can also prolong the production of nitric oxide and extend the benefits of arginine over a longer period of time. This can translate to greater endurance, improved pumps and faster recovery from exercise.
Deficiency symptoms
Anyone can benefit from supplementing with Arginine Ethyl Ester, even those for whom a previous L-Arginine supplement proved ineffective.
Dosage and side effects
The dosage for the Arginine Ethyl Ester selection is from one to four grams daily for maximum ergogenic effect. Arginine Ethyl Ester is best consumed in divided doses throughout the day to ensure a continuous release of arginine. Individuals with existing psychiatric disorders or heart problems should consult their physician before taking arginine-containing products.
