The latest creatine innovation is called Kre-Alkalyn and promises to make creatine an even bigger supplement hit. Why? Because it solves a problem that the creatine industry has been happy to cover up over the years: Creatine is highly unstable in liquid and quickly condenses into useless creatinine before the body can assimilate much of it. The fact is: you need to supplement high amounts of standard creatine to ensure that even a fraction makes it into your muscles, as much, if not most, of the supplemented creatine is converted into creatinine before it even reaches its intended destination. In truth, creatinine and not creatine is responsible for the side effects associated with creatine supplements. If your creatine is causing you mega problems, it's because too much of it is being turned into useless creatinine.

According to its inventor, nutritionist and former bodybuilder Jeff Golini, it prevents premature creatinine conversion and ensures that 100 percent of the supplemented creatine actually reaches your muscles. After extensive testing, he found the reason why creatine is so unstable in liquid and is converted into creatinine. The low pH value of creatine is to blame. Adding it to a strong alkaline drink did not solve the problem as it has to pass through the highly acidic stomach during digestion. He found that it remained completely stable in any liquid for a long time once he buffered it with an alkaline higher than pH 12 (thus opening the way to complete stable Kre-Alkalyn drinks and serums).

Creatine buffered in this way allows an intact passage through the stomach and can be supplied in full strength to the bloodstream. Using this method, he found that the conversion to creatinine was miraculously stopped. The question remains, if such a strong alkaline solution burns human tissue, just like a strong acid? Now this is a food technology-like analogy: a 3.0 pH acid burns the skin, yet you can drink a soda drink (pH 3) that contains phosphoric acid or citric acid.

The body naturally produces about two grams of creatine a day. Supplementing with an additional five grams, or 5000 milligrams, ensures the benefits of only 200 to 400 milligrams of pure creatine, while 4600 milligrams are converted into useless, potentially toxic creatinine. Most creatine is broken down when it comes into contact with liquid. In the acidic environment of the stomach, even more is broken down. Meanwhile, the 300 to 400 milligrams that get through increase the creatine reserves in the muscles by 10 to 20 percent.

This is the reason why some bodybuilders achieve certain results even with standard creatine. If 90 percent of unbuffered creatine is broken down in liquid and/or stomach acid, then Kre-Alkalyn would be ten times more effective, as it remains 100 percent stable. Once the muscle cells are saturated with creatine, they cannot absorb any more of it, regardless of the form in which it is offered to you. So it doesn't get any better than 100 percent.

Optimal dosage

I recommend taking the entire dose first thing in the morning. The reason: continuous use is the key to optimal creatine benefits. And if you take your creatine in the morning, you're less likely to forget to take it later. Most bodybuilders believe they need to take their creatine immediately before the start of their training session, but this is not absolutely necessary. Once the muscle stores are topped up, the tank is full and you benefit from Kre-Alkalyn regardless of when the training session takes place. It's a bit like a car sitting in the garage with a full tank, ready to start as soon as you turn the ignition key. Nevertheless, many athletes report good results when they take half the dose before and half after training. I also recommend taking the same amount every day, regardless of whether you are training that day or not. Many people experience great strength improvements after taking Kre-Alkalyn in doses of 1.5g for just 1 - 4 days.

Here's a tip for maximum strength results:

Take 5 - 7.5 grams 60 - 90 minutes before training in a simple carbohydrate drink (or 60 grams of glucose/dextrose). Women usually respond well at just 2.5 - 4g. Take another 2.5 grams immediately after your workout with 40 grams of protein, 70 grams of glucose and 70 grams of maltodextrin. Remember that everyone's biochemistry is different. Some respond to a dose of just 1.5 grams, while others (especially those over 90Kg) need a higher dose to experience the full effect! You have a larger body to fill. Try experimenting with the dose until you find your optimal level. You will soon notice a huge difference!

Conclusion

Kre-Alkalyn is superior!!! As good as conventional creatine monohydrate may have been, this form of creatine is a huge leap forward. It's like comparing a sports car from the fifties with a modern Formula 1 racing car.
